Correva l’anno 1988 quando il giovane chitarrista Marty Friedman pubblicava sotto Shrapnel Records il suo primo
disco solista, “Dragon’s Kiss”. Primo disco solista, ma non primo lavoro discografico: per chi non lo
sapesse, quando nel 1989 entrò nei Megadeth, Friedman aveva già ben sette tra album ed ep alle spalle (uno
coi Vixen, tre con gli Hawaii, due coi Cacophony e questo “Dragon’s Kiss”). La domanda retorica che
sorge spontanea è: tutta questa esperienza sarà servita a qualcosa? L’altrettanto retorica risposta
è: sì, e questo disco è la dimostrazione che anche con una produzione a basso costo si può
realizzare un grande album metal pieno di puro shred.
